Why build buyer personas at all
A buyer persona is a semi-fictional portrait of your ideal customer: who they are, what they are trying to accomplish, what holds them back and where to reach them. Without personas, every marketing decision — an ad message, a landing page, a channel choice — rests on an unspoken hunch. With explicit personas, the whole team shares the same picture of the customer, and debates like “I think our customers want…” turn into testable hypotheses.
The classic trap is the poster persona: a pretty document, generic, never used. A good persona is actionable — every section answers an operational question.
